Watch Will Smith rap
May 24, 2013 9:59pm | Cosequence Of Sound

It was 17 years ago this week that The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air aired its final episode. Earlier this evening on the UK’s Graham Norton Show, Will Smith and Alfonso Ribeiro (AKA Carlton) reunited on-air and took us on a stroll down memory lane. With DJ Jazzy Jeff behind the deck, watch as Smith raps The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air theme song before he and Ribeiro dance along to “It’s Not Unusual” and “Jump On It”.

On a side note: Will Smith looks almost as young as his son.

Rock it Out! Blog:
May 24, 2013 6:25pm | Cosequence Of Sound

Can a band ever be too old to rock? Do musicians ever reach a point where they have to hang up their guitar and walk away? That’s the focus of today’s Rock it Out! Blog, as Sami ponders at what point an artist should call it quits. Is there a specific age all bands/singers should give up the limelight, or can they rock out into their twilight years as long as they’ve still got “it”? And does their motivation (e.g. paycheck vs. passion) ever play a deciding factor? Leave your comments down below.

Make sure to follow Rock it Out! Blog on Twitter and Facebook, and subscribe to its YouTube channel.

Shut Up, Dude: This Week
May 24, 2013 4:11pm | StereoGum

One week ago, Kanye premiered Yeezus‘s ferocious “New Slaves” by projecting his face onto buildings throughout the world. (He performed it the next day on SNL, too.) It was the best video of the week and you can watch it on the side of a building IRL tonight in these cities. The rapper’s new music was Stereogum’s most discussed topic this week, but you guys also had a lot to say about our Queens Of The Stone Age review, Fiona Apple’s 10 best songs, and the band name Pity Sex. Your best and worst comments are below.

Billy Joel's Interview with the Times Doesn't Matter Because That Picture Happened...
May 24, 2013 3:44pm | The Daily Swarm

What you see above is NOT the true beauty of the thing contained over at The New York Times, at the top of its insanely long interview with Billy Joel. Looks like love is his co-pilot.

Things discussed that you can read about if you don’t mind just having that picture in your head the whole time:

— Hip dysplasia

— Elton John “shooting from the hip”

— Not wanting to write songs

— Bankruptcy

— Writing sex

Awesome. We suggest watching the whole tribute, but we’ve set the video to play when the giant pit broke out, as soon as “Raining Blood” began. (via Uproxx)

And just because, here’s the legend(s) playing it live.

Jody Rosen, who has shut down newspapers, covers the story of Shane McAnally, co-writer of seven No. 1 country songs — and a gay, married father of twins. From the New York Times:

Kanye West plans additional projections across the world

It could be ‘New Slaves’, but it could be anything.

Like last Friday, Kanye’s website has been updated with a map of locations in North America, Europe, and Australia. Drilling down shows that projections are scheduled in various cities for tonight, Saturday, and Sunday, and further poking around shows some cities that could have something scheduled in the future.

While Def Jam France’s Twitter account suggests that the projection will be of ‘New Slaves’, it could be anything
