Watch Titus Andronicus & The So So Glos Cover
May 16, 2013 10:28am | StereoGum Right now, Titus Andronicus and the So So Glos are on the so-called “Bring Back The Dudes” tour, bringing sweaty and messy punk-rock singalongs to bars across this great nation. And both bands came together onstage to end a recent set at the New Orleans venue Siberia. The So So Glos guys drunkenly paid homage to their home borough (and Titus’s adopted home) by covering the Beastie Boys’ deathless “No Sleep Till Brooklyn,” tweaking lyrics while appropriate, while Titus frontman Patrick Stickles wandered around smoking and shaking a tambourine. This show looks fun as fuck, and the So So Glos guys have never looked more Bay Ridge than they do in the video below. Read More...

FACT
May 16, 2013 10:06am | Fact Magazine Following on from Part 1, here’s the second and final instalment of FACT’s alternative Eurovision Song Contest. As you’ll have seen yesterday, the premise is simple: our team of writers select an underground artist from each of the 39 countries participating in Saturday’s contest, and present a key track from each for your consideration and delectation. Part 2 contains a similar abundance of off-piste treats: Montenegrin beat music, Italian dream-pop, Belgian tape manipulation and, waving the flag for the UK, 8-bit grime from the Big Smoke. Now that all the contestants are accounted for, we’re also giving you the opportunity to vote for your favourites - and, as we said before, political voting will be frowned upon. On Friday, we’ll reveal the full results: who soared, who flunked, who got nul points and who’s going to be hosting next year’s bash. Click here to vote. Use your keyboard
Detroit legend Carl Craig to take over Rinse FM tonight
May 16, 2013 10:05am | Fact Magazine Two hours with one of Detroit’s most crucial producers? Sign us up. Little can be said about Carl Craig that hasn’t probably been covered in great detail already, and the pioneering Detroit techno producer is due to be stopping in at London’s Rinse FM tonight for a very special guest show. Craig will be running things for two hours from 7PM to 9PM GMT, and our bets are on him playing a few choice cuts from his upcoming Masterpiece triple CD. The contribution to the Ministry of Sound series was announced back in April, but Craig has just revealed that the ‘mystery’ third disc will be a selection of entirely new isolationist modular synth compositions. Well, we’re excited. For more information and to listen to the show live head here.

Beck To Perform Song Reader In London With Jarvis Cocker, Franz
Ferdinand
May 16, 2013 9:53am | StereoGum Last year, Beck released Song Reader, an album that was only available as sheet music; it’s still the closest thing to a proper album he’s dropped since 2008′s Modern Guilt. Beck has resisted any and all requests to play songs from the album live, so we’ve only heard those songs in our imagination’s version of Beck’s voice, not in Beck’s actual voice. That’s about to change. Read More... |
