MOKB Video Premiere : Andy D :
May 23, 2013 9:47am | My Old Kentucky Blog It is truly hard to believe that Andy D could be any raunchier, but he ratchets it up a notch in his new video, “Nasty.” Andy once agains brings plenty of flesh and sweat as he outlines all the “nasty” he does and is gonna do to his counterpart, Anna Vision. Oreo Jones makes an excellent workout party for the D as well. Andy D released Warcries this past January through Rad Summer Records.
Majical Cloudz & Grimes did karaoke and played Glasslands

May 23, 2013 9:39am | Brooklyn Vegan photos by Jonathon Bernstein "GRIMES SHOWED UP AT MAJICAL CLOUDZ's RELEASE PARTY
FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF Montreal duo Majical Cloudz have been on a tour with Youth Lagoon, which hit the NYC-area twice earlier this month, and this week they took a couple days off from that tour to return to NYC for their own separate events. On Monday (5/20), the guys went to Manhattan record store Other Music for an in-store performance, and that night they met up with their pal Claire Boucher (aka Grimes, who featured Majical Cloudz on her song, "Nightmusic") to hit up a karaoke bar on the LES. While there, Majical Cloudz's Devon Welsh sang Limp Bizkit's "Nookie," though Claire was too shy to sing anything. Devon's bandmate (who doesn't sing in Majical Cloudz) Matt Otto did Backstreet Boys' "I Want It That Way," which apparently is becoming a thing for indie people these days. Then, the next night (5/21) Majical Cloudz headed to Brooklyn to play a release party for their new album, Impersonator, which was released via Matador that same day. NYC producer Gobby opened that show with a full-band set, and the advertised "SPECIAL GUEST!" turned out to be none other than Grimes doing a DJ set. Pictures from the Glasslands show are in this post. As mentioned, Majical Cloudz will be back in NYC yet again ...
FTSE Featuring Saint Saviour
May 23, 2013 9:36am | Abeano There’s melancholy seeping out of every note in this moody collaborative track by producer FTSE, who provides the baritone vocals. It edges sadly towards a much bigger, expansive final third, with some pretty harmonies courtesy of guest Saint Saviour:
Washed Out Paracosm Details
May 23, 2013 9:34am | StereoGum It’s been a while since we’ve heard anything from Ernest Greene, the gloopy Georgia-based synth auteur who records as Washed Out. But his 2011 debut album Within And Without was one of the best things that came out of the whole chillwave movement (even if it did hit stores after that whole thing had already faded). And later this summer, he’ll follow that album up with a new one called Paracosm. On this one, he once again worked with Within And Without producer Ben Allen, probably best-known for Animal Collective’s Merriweather Post Pavilion. The album’s title refers to the idea of imaginary worlds that people create, and Greene may have created his own world with the album, using more than 50 instruments, as well as samples. The first single is called “It Feels All Right,” but we haven’t had a chance to hear it yet. There is, however, a two-minute album trailer with some deeply pretty music in it; check it out below. Washed Out returns with brand new album Paracosm
May 23, 2013 9:02am | Fact Magazine Chillwave, is that you? Still probably best known for contributing the memorable theme to Carrie Brownstein and Fred Armisen’s comedy sketch show Portlandia, Washed Out (aka Ernest Greene) has now announced his highly anticipated second album. Produced by Ben Allen, who produced the album’s predecessor Within or Without, Paracosm will be appearing on the Sub Pop label on August 13. From the sounds of the trailer (which you can view below) it feels like Greene is attempting to take his dusty chillwave to the next level, adding a Technicolor sense of Widescreen through samples that sound as if they’ve been pulled from the reels of aging Disney movies. Apparently the producer used around fifty instruments (including the tape-loop-based Mellotron) on top of his usual collection of samples, so there’s definitely a sense that Paracosm will be somewhat bigger budget than what we’re used to from Washed Out. It’s certainly not lo-fi any more. [via Pitchfork]

Andrew Cedermark
May 23, 2013 8:55am | StereoGum Andrew Cedermark, the former Titus Andronicus guitarist and veteran of the home-recording limited-cassette-tape universe, is about to release his new album Home Life, and the songs we’ve heard from it are bigger, fuller, and prettier than anything he’s done before. We already posted the luminous early track “Canis Major,” and now “At Home,” another track from the album, turns out to be a quiet and reserved anthem, with resigned lyrics about lost childhood and a combination of surging guitar and honking harmonica that recalls prime Springsteen. It’s a great song, and you can hear it below. Read More...

Nu Brand Flexxx
May 23, 2013 8:46am | Fact Magazine Boya Dee, a.k.a. Boya DeeMarko, of grime collective Nu Brand Flexxx, became an unlikely celebrity when his eye-witness Twitter account of yesterday’s savage attack in Woolwich, London was quoted by pretty much every newspaper going. Good on Boya Dee then, for turning down some substantial sums of money to sell his story – a story which he had every right to sell, really – to the press. “Apologies to all the news reporters I ignored (including you Jon Snow) but I really do not have anything else to say on the matter”, Boya Tweeted today. “Since the incident occurred, I’ve been offered up to £75k from media outlets for my story. I’ve turned them all down. This story is not about ME And doesn’t need to be sensationalised anymore by me selling my story for a few bucks.” “Finally”, he concludes, “all u folk who gave out my number for a few hundred quid have officially been taken off my christmas card list!”. You can read Boya’s account of yesterday’s attack further down his Twitter feed.
View at your own risk: the Chief Keef fan tattoo that will haunt
your dreams
May 23, 2013 8:43am | Fact Magazine Continuing our hard-hitting investigation into the tawdry world of catastrophic fan body art. For a few months about a year ago, you couldn’t move for terrible fanboy tats and trims: the girl with the Skrillex chest ink, the man with the Drake-fro, and Yelawolf’s supremely ill-advised Johnny and June Cash tribute all indelibly etched onto our brains. Then, after a lull, came the worst of the bunch: step forward the Thom Yorke nipple tattoo. The latest tat-rocity comes to our attention via drill anti-hero Chief Keef’s Twitter account (which, after that infamous blowie image, has become a go-to for eye-melting images). The rapper posted an image of a fan’s full-back Chief Keef tattoo, rather awkwardly headed with his birth name Keith Cozart. We’re not sure how to best describe the image in mere words: a cross between Lando Calrissian and an incubus? Rick James doing an impression of a gremlin? A chiuhaha being gobbled by an Ood? View the image above, then have a lie-down.
