WATCH: Joanna Newsom guests on Portlandia, with a harp, obviously
Feb 13, 2012 5:42pm | Chart Attack Following up appearances from St. Vincent and Isaac Brock, this Fridays episode of Portlandia features a scene with acclaimed harpist Joanna Newsom as herself. After a mind-freeing hippie harpfest with a handful of boheimian friends (including Fleet Foxes Robin Pecknold), Newsom hitches a ride with Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein. But get this: her harp wont fit in their car! What a zany scenario! A minute of fruitless harp cramming ensues, with lots of cartoony sound ...
Kanye/Odd Future Collaboration in the pipes?
Feb 13, 2012 5:22pm | Chart Attack After Tweeting the video for Yonkers into the national consciousness, Kanye West may be preparing to do some kind of collaboration involving petulant hip-hop collective Odd Future. Despite the fact that he may not even be one of Tyler, the Creator's favorite producers, some photos recently posted to OFWGKTA's Tumblr show that West was recently in a room with him and Frank Ocean, with a keyboard, and did something on the computer. Or maybe not. Everything is speculation at this poi...

The last two appear on this track, "Fitta Happier", which seems to sample a marching band performance of Radiohead.
Prepare for the Kanye West/Odd Future Collaboration
Feb 13, 2012 4:45pm | Pitchfork The Golf Wang Tumblr has posted a series of photos that indicate that we might be hearing a Kanye West collaboration with Odd Future soo. (Recall the goofy webcam photo Tyler Tweeted of the two of them a few days ago, above).
WATCH: Kurt Vile plays two songs in Brooklyn. Yes, THE Brooklyn.
Feb 13, 2012 4:39pm | Chart Attack We cant all live in the Brooklyn. That would be silly. It would start to smell worse than it already does and then probably sink (Brooklyn is the island borough, right? Or is it all an island? Someone Wiki this). It would be EVEN SILLIER to expect all of us to fit into a room at the Converse Rubber Tracks studio to watch rocker Kurt Vile play some songs, 'cuz everyone would get squished and killed. But thanks to Fader and the aforementioned Converse viral marketing plot, we can watch his...

Stream SoKo I Thought I Was An Alien (Stereogum Premiere)
Feb 13, 2012 4:22pm | StereoGum 26-year-old Stéphanie Sokolinski is SoKo is a French artist with already substantial global popularity — she’s the sort to put up YouTube numbers in the 1.5MM view range. After taking some time away from music, presumably to focus on film (she’s a prolific actress) though clearly also to focus on honing her sound, she returns next week with a gorgeous, ethereally plaintive folk/pop album called I Thought I Was An Alien. It should add more to her view-counts a... Check 3WK daily - your destination for all the latest indie music news and reviews! |
